Our Community Infrastructure Projects

ABOUT

Streets of Hope is an innovative social and community intervention created by Anchor of Hope (https://anchorofhope.co.za/) to safeguard and secure the sustainability of South Africa’s national infrastructure. South Africa’s infrastructure is under severe threat due to failing Municipalities and State-Owned-Enterprises. Unemployment, the effects of COVID-19, and intense corruption have intensified the destruction of public spaces and infrastructure. The project is created as a public response to an eroding South Africa. As many of our citizens stand in despair, leave the country our lose their motivation. We stand to safe our country!
The project scope includes cultural buildings, public open spaces, potholes in its initial stages. The initial location focus is Bloemfontein, where the local metro council has been declared insolvent, and as such are unable to provide the necessary upkeep required to secure and maintain key public infrastructure and spaces.
The project is set to expand geographically. In the Free State the next phase includes four additional municipalities. Anchor of Hope has created an umbrella implementation structure, which brings together regional non-profit-organizations for the project’s implementation beyond Bloemfontein.
All our interventions have been duly approved and are supported by local authorities.

INITIAL IMPACT STRUCTURE OF THE PROJECT

The initial scope of work will have the following impact (over 4 years):

  • Initial project intervention impact in Bloemfontein worth R24 million
  • An initial maintenance scope of 8 public buildings and open spaces
  • An initial total of 272 contract jobs created
  • 4 fully resourced and capacitated entrepreneurs launched
  • 272 civilians trained on life-skills
  • A total of 80 welders trained, and skilled (in-practice)

The project impact will increase as more projects and spaces are added in the Bloemfontein area, as well as on the trajectory of its national expansion drive.
